Ajax Cape Town head coach, Stanley Menzo has encouraged out of favour Lebohang “Cheeseboy” Mokoena to fight his way back in to the starting line-up.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns man has been turning out for the club’s Mutlichoice Diski side, after falling out of favour in the first team since the arrival of the Dutchman.
Cheeseboy’s last competitive feature in the first-team was in an Absa Premiership encounter against Kaizer Chiefs last year October, under the mentorship of former head coach, Roger de Sa.
However, the Dutch coach has shared some words of encouragement with the 30-year-old winger.
“I think all three games he played in the MultiChoice Diski Challenge; he played well. He is a player that at this moment – we know in football things can change very quick – he is not in the line-up at the moment, but he is still a PSL player, he is still part of the squad,” Menzo said on the club’s official website.
“He has to fight his way into the first team, he might not be number one, two but three in his position so he has to fight for a place. But, then again, he does very well in training, he is playing well – if the other two don’t perform I won’t hesitate to bring in someone else who will give the team something extra,” he concluded.
